Summer Exhibition 2009
The Garden Suburb Gallery is delighted to announce the dates of its annual summer show that brings together the best of Arts & Crafts furniture design with the work of leading British artists.
The core of the exhibition is again to be held in the Main Hall of the Lutyens designed Henrietta Barnett School in the Suburb’s idyllic Central Square; with two smaller support exhibitions running concurrently at both the Garden Suburb Gallery’s permanent home at Fellowship House and at Joseph’s Bookstore, the Suburb’s independent bookstore, based at Temple Fortune.
The gallery are teaming up with specialists dealers in their respective fields to provide high quality and enjoyable shows at all 3 venues and have established a dedicated web-site at:
www.hgsummershow.org to allow easier previewing of the event.
The 15 day show, which will run from Sunday 26 July through to Sunday 9 August, will have at its centre an exhibition of over 80 Arts & Crafts designs from the movements leading designers, makers and retailers and will include both Modern British and contemporary paintings alongside the Arts & Crafts furniture.
This combination proved a great success last year and broadened the exhibitions appeal and served to underline the affinity that the Suburb has with the Arts.
For this aspect of the show we have again sourced an impressive collection of works including:
Edward Wolfe RA, Morris
Kestelman, Gerald Wilde, Gordon
House, George Chapman, Dame Laura
Knight, Vera Waddington,
Kathleen Paenson, James Mackinnon,
Rosemary Clunie, Eric
Rimmington,
Frances Newman, John Keane, Hugh Mackinnon, Geoffrey Clarke
RA, Cecily Sash,
